While Nolan Bellavance and Ava Hama have only had one previous collection, their Bellavance SS14 presentation at Milk Studios this past weekend demonstrated an experienced eye. Creating a dynamic but entirely wearable collection, it reflected plenty of stripes, influenced by Memphis Group founder Ettore Sottsass, and sought inspiration for their silhouettes from New York City scaffolding. The overall vibe reflected a new age summer crossing, with feminine classicism in perfect transition for the downtown streets.

With music provided by duo Them Finest, the season's mix reflects a narrative of blissed out anthems spliced with righteous 90s nostalgia — Imperial Teen, The Breeders, even Marnie Stern — all speaking to the summer classics that can be so defining, alongside whatever that's in season.
