Finely irrational, Mike and Claire’s work is built from pieces of what could be: alternate takes that combine the levity and grotesque extremes of cartoons with the logic of our most personal, buried impulses. Their silent shorts are in the tradition of the great performance artists: dance sequences inspired by Charles Atlas; an available-ism philosophy inherited from Kembra Pfahler; lush identities, festive ambiance and costumes that revisit Leigh Bowery; disturbing mysteries and exotic secrets whispered from the legacy of Jack Smith. For the first film production from The Allday Digest, the duo brought some of their closest friends to Attic Studios for a sunny winter day of experimental performance and open-ended play.
